Jonathan Lyndale Kirk ( Cleveland, Ohio , December 22, 1991 ) , better known as DaBaby (formerly Baby Jesus ), is an American rapper and songwriter . He is known for his single “Suge”, the advance single from his debut studio album, “Baby on Baby” (2019). “Suge” became a commercial success, reaching number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart .

Early years
Jonathan Lyndale Kirk was born on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio. However, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1999, where he spent most of his early years. He attended and graduated from the Vance Institute in 2010. He attended the University of North Carolina for two years, but did not finish his studies as he only went to the institute because of his parents’ obligation.
Career
In 2015, DaBaby, known as Baby Jesus at the time, began his music career with the release of Nonfiction , his debut mixtape . He later continued with his of his mixtape series God’s Work, Baby Talk mixtape series, Billion Dollar Baby , and Back on My Baby Jesus Sh*t .
On March 2, 2019, her debut studio album was released via Interscope Records . He is also signed to South Coast Music Group and has a joint contract with both firms. 10 The thirteen-track project features the collaboration of Offset , Rich Homie Quan , Rich the Kid and Stunna 4 Vegas. Baby on Baby debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200 in the US. Controversies
Kirk was involved in an incident in Huntersville, North Carolina where a 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and died shortly thereafter. 17 Kirk confirmed his involvement in the shooting, saying “he acted in self-defense.” 18 Still, the charge was closed in March 2019, and Kirk pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, a misdemeanor. 19
